Images of My Day
This post, along with the other posts in the ‘Images of My Day’ category simply consist of a few photos that I have taken today. These images were taken at the end of October 2012. I hope you enjoy them.
A Great Super Chilli Crop
It has been a very variable year for the garden, but my greenhouse has still produced plenty of cucumbers, tomatoes, and many herbs and spices. My favourite crop this year has been my Super Chillis which have performed brilliantly. They are drying for storage, with plenty to eat fresh too.
Hover Fly on Chilli
It clearly isn’t just me enjoying my chilli crop. Here’s a late hover fly basking in my greenhouse. Hover flies are great for keeping pest populations down, so should be encouraged as much as possible.
Epiphyllum ackermannii at the end of October
This wonderful Epiphyllum is flowering strongly for the second time this year. It has loads of buds and will provide stunning display for a few weeks in my greenhouse. I’ve got a heater in there to keep the frost out, so hopefully it will fare well.
Blueberry Autumn Foliage
Another plant that has done very well this summer in spite of the miserable weather are Blueberries. They have provided me with handfuls of sweet plump berries through mid to late summer, and hopefully my latest addition will extend the season even further. Blueberries are hardy and useful – a perfect plant for the kitchen garden.
One of My Pims
This is an opportunistic picture of one of the fish in my aquarium. This Pimelodus blochii is one of two that live with my Red Hook Silver Dollars and other catfish.
