Hoya meliflua
This is a large-growing tropical house / conservatory plant.
This Hoya is well-suited to growing in pots where its vines can be trained up a trellis or similar. It will become a very large specimen in time. The reddish-orange flowers produce dark nectar. The fleshy leaves are a feature in their own right. The leaves are relatively large, and a vibrant green.
Hoya meliflua originates from the Philippines.
The flowers develop from spurs that grow in size after each flowering. These must be retained because they produce flowers from the same spot each bloom.
The musty sweet scent produced by the attractive umbels is almost chocolatey and the dark, sweet nectar that this plant produces is an excellent treat for butterflies.
