Hoya imbricata
This is a particularly interesting Hoya. The heavily flecked leaves wrap themselves around their support such as the cork I keep mine on (a branch or similar in the wild) with roots developing in the proteced micro-habitat this creates. In nature, ants and other insects help the cause by occupying the ‘motherleaf’ which helps introcude organic matter, and therefore nutrition and water for the growing roots.
It originates from The Philippines and surrounding territories.
This Hoya likes bright light and benefits from misting regularly to promote the warm, humid conditions it thrives in.
This is not one for the beginner – it is slow-growing and needs patience and care.
