A Young Hedgehog

Here’s a visitor we had today. There are fields all around us so we often get wildlife visitors – sometimes it is a Heron trying to steal my fish, but other times we are lucky enough to get much cuter visitors, like this young hedgehog.

Weeding Chickens

Bernard and Bobb got a well deserved run out today. They have been earning their keep by producing at least an egg each per day, with one of them being a regular double-yolk producer! They enjoy having a dig around the garden, slowly moving their way around, destroying pretty much everything in their paths.

Leafcutter Bee

Leafcutter bees are solitary bees that live in dad or soft wood, in which they chisel out entrances with their mouth-parts. They also use their mouth parts to cut and collect small pieces of leaves to construct their nests. They make nest cells from the pieces of leaf and leave a supply of food for the egg to feed it while it develops.

Balancing Bernard

We walk our two chickens (Bernard and Bobb) from the back garden to a run out on the front garden. They are very accommodating until we get to 2 steps – they don’t seem to like going down very much, especially Bernard who perched on my foot rather than take the plunge!
